About Retribution Reptiles LLC
The venture into reptiles began with some pet leopard geckos Ryan picked up at a local chain pet store. Angelicka fell in love with the cute little smiling animals. Ryan learned more by visiting forums, and Angelicka purchased her own first leopard gecko a few months later. Angelicka also began doing more research to learn how to better care for her animal. Through research Ryan became interested in morphs and genetics, which also led to interest in breeding. Further discussion continued until the decision to breed was made.
2009 was the first breeding season. A few pairings were made when most of the female leopard geckos began to ovulate, and went on hunger strikes. The outcome was mixed. There were many healthy babies hatched, but there were also a few heartbreaks. Having a variety of outcomes was actually fortunate for the first year. Asking seasoned breeders many questions with each new experience increased the knowledge base, and also showed the potential for fun in the hobby of breeding. The decision to form a company was made, and Retribution Reptiles LLC was officially recognized by the state of Ohio on November 15, 2009.
2010 was the first year vending shows. 2011 brought permanent tables at Taylor, MI and Cleveland, OH. An exciting future lays ahead. This will be a great addition to the full time jobs both owners have as well.
Facility and Care:
Leopard Geckos are housed separately in a tub/rack system. P. picta are also housed separately in a rack system. We have found that they do better in smaller tubs than adult leopard geckos, so they are actually kept in one of the hatchling racks.
The three feeders used are crickets, mealworms and superworms. Feeders are given gutload and dusted with calcium and vitamin supplement powders. There are also isolation tanks set up for quarantine of new animals.
